Bel Pesce studied at MIT. After a successful stint in Silicon Valley, she returned to inspire others with great ideas in her country to make them a reality.
She has worked at Microsoft as internship; she led the team for Microsoft Touchless. As an intern at Google, she worked to improve the Google Translate system. She has also worked in finance, at Deutsche Bank, and helped launch several startups.
She also opened a school, FaziNOVA, which is dedicated to helping students - both in live courses in San Paulo, Brazil, and online- persevere toward their dreams.
In this Ted Talk, she talked about five easy-to-believe myths that ensure our dream projects will never come to fruition.
1) Believe in overnight success.
2) Believe someone else has the answers for you.
No one else has the perfect answer for your life. You need to keep picking those decisions.
3) Decide to settle down when growth is guaranteed.
When you’re growing towards a peak, you need to work harder than ever and find yourself another peak.
4) Believe the fault is someone else’s.
If you have dreams, it’s your responsibility to make them happen. If no one invested in your idea, if no one bought your product, for sure, there is something there that is your fault.
5) Believe that the only things that matter are the dreams themselves.
Live is never about the goals themselves. Life is about the journey. You should enjoy the goals themselves. Achieving a dream is momentary sensation, and you life is not. The only way to really achieve all of your dreams is to fully enjoy every step of your journey.
