Aimee Mullins is an American athlete, actress, and fashion model. She is so pretty but unfortunately she does not have her lower legs. She was born with fibular hemimelia.
Mullins competed in the Paralympics in 1996 in Atlanta, in which she ran the T42-46 class 100-meter sprint in 17.01 seconds and jumped 3.14 meters in the F42-46 class long-jump. She never gave up.
About her legs, she has 12 pairs. Through the hands of graphic designer Peter Saville, She went to fashion designer Alexander McQueen, and photographer Nick Knight. She runsaway show for Alexander McQueen on a pair of hand-carved wooden legs made form solid ash. Everyone thought they were wooden boots.
Later on, she started with different legs - making her lags wearable sculpture.
In 2009, she had this ted talk and showed audience her legs. With those legs, she can change height.
I also like the sentence she mentioned: " I think that if we want to discover the full potential in our humanity, we need to celebrate those heartbreaking strengths and those glorious disabilities that we all have. I think of Shakespeare's Shylock: "If you prick us, do we not bleed, and if you tickle us, do we not laugh?" It is our humanity, and all the potential within it, that makes us beautiful."
