本章Julianna因为保护那颗人人嫌弃的丑树而上头条，而Bryce和小伙伴都没有帮助她，在Julianna Before the sycamore was moved away,she go to school by bus ,since the sycamore kept away ，she went to school by bike.Bryce感觉到大树对朱莉的重要性时，使Bryce在心里逐渐关心起她来。而本章出场的绅士老人，外公邓肯则会是Bryce对Julianna的看法改变的一个关键契机，虽然本章只是提到了一点点，尽管Bryce拒绝了了解朱莉的机会，但还是开始了慢慢的解了Julianna。

But all of a sudden my stomach completely bailed on me.

But I couldn't exactly blow him off.

Not that he had anything to be miffed at me about.

11. sneak a peek 先睹为快，快速前瞻，偷窥

And I completely avoided looking at him until about halfway through dinner, when I sneaked a peek.
