It was the second time to read chapter 8.Then I looked through the post of TS about  chapter 8.It had to say that my reading may relate to the surface of story.A word in this book may indicate deep meaning.But anyway，let me tell the process of the story.

After the accident,Gatsby didn't consider going away because he couldn't possibly leave Daisy until he knew she was going to do.He was clutching at some last hope.But nothing happened.Then Gatsby told the strange story of his youth and he wanted to talk about Daisy.

Daisy was the first "nice girl"Gatsby had ever known.But he and Daisy came different strata,he was penniless.So he took what he could get and he had deliberately given Daisy a sense of security;he let her believe that he was a person from much the same strata as herself—that he was fully able to take care of her.Then they fell in love.

Later Gatsby went abroad.Later Daisy wanted her life shaped ,and the arrival of Tom forced her make decision—they were married.Till they met,Gatsby didn't think Daisy ever loved Tom.So what the reality was.After the accident,Daisy didn't call Gatsby.

Then Nick told what happened at the garage after they left there the night before.In the end,Wilson killed Gatsby.
