Bryce find that his father had the same sense of humor as Garrett, he felt the serious willies.

Bryce's mum had invited The Baker's family to have barbecue,  during the party, Bryce's sister played well with Juli's brothers,  and Juli talked well with her father and Bruce's grandfather. Bryce felt alone, Juli heard what he said in the libaray so she didn't want to speak to him, and others ignored him.

Bryce's father looked down on The Baker's family, and he  speak rudely to Juli's brothers. This made the others felt uncomfortable. At the end , Juli apologized to Bryce for her angry at the beginning, and thanks his mother for inviting them.

But after the Bakers gone, Bryce's sister brawled with his father, and his father slapped her. Bryce realized that his father was wrong for a long time.
