Wilmington: North Carolina

It was a major Atlantic Ocean port city for the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. A vital lifeline for the fledgling Confederacy to trading partners in Europe, Wilmington was the last port to fall to the Union Army, which completed its blockade of the coast.

Wilmington was one of the most important points of entry for supplies for the entire Confederate States. Its port traded cotton and tobacco in exchange for foreign goods, such as munitions, clothing and foodstuffs.

Army of Northern Virginia had nearly 79 000 men, with 71 500 engaged. Army of the Potomac was organised into 3 so/caled Grand Divisions, including corps, cavalry, and artillery, comprising 120 000 men, of which 114 000 would be engaged in the coming battle. 联邦军队伤亡惨重,南方军团打败了联邦而换取了圣诞节的平安。

The battle was a major battle of the American Civil War, and the principal engagement of the Chancellorsville Campaign. It was fought from 30.4. - 6.5.1863 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, near the village of Chancellorsville.

Lee, despite being outnumbered by a ratio of over two to one, won arguably his greatest victory of the war. But he paid a terrible price for it, taking more casualties than he had lost in any previous battle. With only 60 000 men engaged, he suffered 13303 casualties (1665 killed, 9081 wounded, 2018 missing), losing some 22% of his force in the campaign.

Of the 133 000 Union men engaged, 17 197 were casualties (1606killed, 9672 wounded and 5919 missing), a percentage much lower than Lee’s.

Stonewell Jackson: (21.1.1824 - 10.5.1863)

He served as a Confederate general (1861-1863) during the American Civil War, and became one of the best-known Confederate commanders after General Robert E Lee.
