Narnia 6-CHAPTER ONE
THE WRONG DOOR
Q:
1. Who are the main characters introduced in Chap. 1?
A girl called Polly Plummer and a boy called Digory.
2. How do they meet?
One morning Polly was out in the back garden when Digory scrambled up from the garden next door and put his face over the wall.
3. Why has the boy been crying?
Because his father was away in India and he had to come and live with an Aunt and an Uncle who were looking after his Mother, and his Mother was ill and was going to die.
4. What is the setting (where does the story take place, and what time of year is it)?
It took place in one of a long row of houses in London. In those days Mr Sherlock Holmes was still living in Baker Street and the Bastables were looking for treasure in the Lewisham Road.
5. How does the weather affect the adventure?
The adventures began chiefly because it was one of the wettest and coldest summers there had been for years. That drove them to do indoor things.
6. What did the girl discover in the box-room (storage room) in the attic?
What she noticed first was a bright red wooden tray with a number of rings on it. They were in pairs - a yellow one and a green one together, then a little space, and then another yellow one and another green one. They were no bigger than ordinary rings, and no one could help noticing them because they were so bright.
