Narnia 6 - CHAPTER NINE
THE FOUNDING OF NARNIA
Questions:
1. What does Polly notice about the Lion’s song in Chap. 9?
Polly was finding the song more and more interesting because she thought she was beginning to see the connection between the music and the things that were happening.
2. What does she think is going on? How effective is the Witch’s attack on the Lion?
She felt quite certain that all the things were coming out of the Lion's head.
The bar struck the Lion fair between the eyes. It glanced off and fell with a thud in the grass.
3. How does the Lion respond? How do Jadis and Andrew respond to the Lion?
The Lion came on. Its walk was neither slower nor faster than before; maybe it even didn't know it had been hit. Though its soft pads made no noise, the earth shake.
The Witch shrieked and ran, and in a few moments she was out of sight among the trees. Uncle Andrew turned to do likewise, tripped over a root, and fell flat on his face in a little brook that ran down to join the river.
4. What makes Uncle Andrew so excited about "commercial possibilities"?
They have discovered a world where everything is bursting with life and growth. It can make him be a millionaire. And then the climate makes him feel years younger already. He thought he can run it as a health resort. A good sanatorium here might be worth twenty thousand a year.
5. What did he discover?
He found the world was the land of youth.
6. What does the Lion to all the creatures just before He wakes them up?
The Lion was singing still. But now the song had once more changed. It was more like a tune, but it was also far wilder. It made people want to run and jump and climb. It made people want to shout and even want to rush at other people and either hug them or fight them.
7. Can you think of anything like that which happens in the Bible?
The new world has been created.
8. What does the Lion say to the Beasts?
Narnia, Narnia, Narnia, awake. Love. Think. Speak. Be walking trees. Be talking beasts. Be divine waters.
